We refer this family as the multi input non-binary turbo codes (MNBTC), which is very general. More specifically, we show that this family includes the multi-binary turbo-codes (MBTCs) that themselves include the classical binary turbo-codes (BTCs). Moreover, it also includes the turbo-codes with Reed Solomon codes as constituent codes. In this paper, we fully describe the encoding process and the extension of the Maximum A Posteriori (MAP) decoding algorithm, especially the trellis closing issues for these codes. Additionally, we show by simulations the benefit of using this family of Turbo-codes.

We present an approach to design of fault tolerant computing systems. In this paper, a technique is employed that enable the combination of several codes, in order to obtain flexibility in the design of error correcting codes. Code combining techniques are very effective, which one of these codes are turbo codes. The Algorithm-based fault tolerance techniques that to detect errors rely on the c...
متن کاملMulti-non-binary turbo codes
This paper presents a new family of turbo codes called multi-non-binary turbo codes (MNBTCs) that generalizes the concept of turbo codes to multi-non-binary (MNB) parallel concatenated convolutional codes (PCCC). An MNBTC incorporates, as component encoders, recursive and systematic multi-non-binary convolutional encoders. The more compact data structure for these encoders confers some advantag...
متن کاملNon-binary turbo-coded physical-layer network coding on impulsive noise channels
ELECT Non-binary turbo codes promise excellent performance for a wide range of applications and environments, but research in this area is sparse. The performance of a non-binary turbo code defined in GF (4) on a two-way wireless relay channel (TWRC) employing physical-layer network coding, which is affected by impulsive noise is investigated. Simulation results for binary and non-binary turbo ...

Mutual information transfer characteristics have been recently proposed by ten Brink as a quasi-analytical tool for the performance analysis of iterative decoding of concatenated codes. Given the individual transfer characteristics of the component codes in a concatenated coding system (obtained by simulation), the convergence region and average decoding trajectory of the concatenated system ma...
متن کاملLow rate convolutional and turbo codes based on non-linear cyclic codes
Low rate convolutional and turbo codes that output non-linear cyclic (NLC) codewords of length n1⁄4 2, m being a positive integer, are described. These codes have a very low coding rate, which makes them especially suitable for spread spectrum systems where they can be used for simultaneously achieving error correction and bandwidth expansion. Due to the cyclic properties and codeword length of...
